Trust tiers
Three tiers. Clear meaning.
Each trust level requires a distinct verification step that ListU controls. Higher tiers unlock more platform capability.
Tier 01
Email Verified
The seller controls the email address used to register. ListU sent a verification link and the seller confirmed it.
Unlocks

Limitations
- –Identity not confirmed — only email control is verified
- –No address, phone, or document check
- –Suitable for lower-value, lower-risk transactions
Tier 02
Phone Verified
In addition to email, the seller has confirmed control of a UK mobile number via SMS. One phone number per account.
Unlocks
- ✓Higher daily listing allowance
- ✓Phone Verified badge visible to all buyers
- ✓Access to higher-value listing categories
Limitations
- –Phone verification confirms device control, not personal identity
- –No government document review
- –Appropriate for mid-value transactions
Tier 03
ID Verified
The seller has submitted a government-issued UK identity document reviewed and accepted by ListU. Real-world identity is linked to their account.
Unlocks

- ✓ID Verified badge — highest visible trust signal
- ✓Access to all listing categories and value ranges
Limitations
- –Document review does not guarantee accuracy of listing content
- –Does not confirm business registration or company status
- –Identity is verified — individual listing conduct is not pre-approved
Account type vs. verification
Business User is not
business verification.
This is one of the most important distinctions on the platform. Understanding it protects both buyers and sellers.
Business User — account type
Self-declared commercial classification
A Business User account means the seller has declared they are operating commercially — as a trader, dealer, or business seller. This is a self-declaration confirmed at registration or upgrade.

Business Verification — future phase
Operator-confirmed commercial identity
Business verification is a separate, future phase. It involves ListU reviewing company registration, VAT status, registered address, and authorised representative identity. This level is not yet active.

Important limitations
What trust badges do not mean.
Clarity builds real trust. These limitations are important to understand before making any transaction.
Verification does not guarantee listing accuracy
A verified seller can still post incorrect descriptions, wrong prices, or inaccurate photos. Verification confirms identity — not the truth of every listing claim.
Badges do not prevent fraud
Verification reduces the risk of anonymous fraud but does not eliminate it. Always inspect items in person before payment. Never pay before viewing.
Business User does not mean registered company
A seller can hold a Business User account without being a registered limited company. Business User describes how you use the platform — not your corporate structure.
Higher tier does not mean higher trustworthiness
Tier 3 sellers have submitted more information. This does not mean they are more honest than Tier 1 sellers. Use verification as one signal among several.
ListU cannot adjudicate private disputes
Transactions completed between buyers and sellers are private agreements. ListU can suspend accounts for violations but cannot recover money in private transactions.
